The Bold & The Blue

We never get tired of kitchen transformations and this kitchen is fuel for the fire. Completely unrecognizable from its original state, EVK Love Design founder Geneviève Love went bold on the redesign and it couldn't be better. If you've been on the fence about going for a bold colour in your design, this is your sign to jump in with both feet!

The original kitchen was sad and dated. Old oak cabinets and worn laminate countertops had served the home well but were in need of replacement. The kitchen, classically, was walled off from the rest of the living space and removing it was top of the list to really maximize the available footprint and gain the functionality the existing kitchen lacked.

"This project was an incredible example of what opening up a space can really do. These clients bought their first home to share with their two young boys and wanted to create a space for entertaining and keeping their family and friends together.

This space is the definition of a diamond in the rough. With some huge creativity and some fun colour, this space is now completely unrecognizable. Removing the walls between the kitchen and living spaces, we were able to showcase the architecture that this house lent in its natural state."

For this young family, having the opportunity to renovate meant making their mark, and they made sure to put their personalized touch into every detail. With EVK's guidance, they trusted their gut and went dark with their cabinetry using rich navy as their foundation and then turning the contrast up to 10 using crisp whites for their countertops and tile backsplash. The high contrast look brings a wave of energy that can't be missed and showcases the joy-filled home these young homeowners have created.
