Budgeting Enough Time for Your Kitchen Reno: A How-to

Beginning to plan your kitchen renovation can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. Not knowing where to start can be overwhelming. With Swede, we've broken the process down into three simple phases that allow our team to take you from design to build seamlessly. To guarantee you're giving yourself enough time to prepare for your exciting project, use the following timeline to help you determine when to start planning. And just a head's up, it might be sooner than you think!

Phase 1: Designing your Dream Kitchen (3-4 weeks)

Once you've connected with a Swede Advisor you will be paired with a Swede Design Partner. Together, you will work one-on-one to craft a comprehensive plan for your space. You can expect to review high-definition 3D renderings, mood boards, and receive material samples directly to your doorstep.

Tips for Designing Your Kitchen:

  • Maximize space by asking your Design Partner about all of the storage solutions that are available!
  • Make sure your kitchen is comfortable and efficient by organizing the layout for easy access to frequently used items.
  • Be honest with your Swede Design Partner - the more open the line of communication is, the better the results when designing your dream kitchen!

Phase 2: Millwork refinement (2-3 weeks)

Millwork encompasses all of the cabinetry that will be crafted with precision and attention to detail. This step adds personality and functionality to your kitchen. Once you finish designing, your Swede Millwork Specialist will collaborate with you to incorporate the final details into your construction plans.

PRO TIP: Having a contractor lined up and appliances selected beforehand is one of the best things you can do to significantly expedite this phase!

Phase 3: Millwork production (4-8 weeks, location dependent)

The countdown is on! A local millwork shop entrusts your plans to skilled millworkers who bring your vision to life. Once completed, your made-to-order kitchen elements arrive at your home in preassembled cabinet boxes, ensuring a seamless installation process.

Tips for Successful Millwork Installation:

  • Make sure your contractor is clear on the expected delivery date so that the job site is ready for installation as soon as your kitchen arrives.
  • Keep communication open with your Swede Design Partner and address any concerns or changes promptly.
  • Prepare yourself for the big reveal. The day of installation is approaching. Visualize how your new kitchen will look!
